Department Overview
The department of palliative care has been started in our hospital to streamline the care given to the oncology patients as well as trauma patients who have become bed ridden. The speciality involves picking up the patients who need the care during their difficult times and support them along with the patient care takers. The primary aim of the care is to improve the wellbeing of the patient during the course of their treatment with essential elements like providing adequate pain relief, nutrition, psychological therapy, physiotherapy and also anaesthesia for palliative surgical procedures. Patients who suffer from cancer need palliative care right from the day of diagnosis which improves their general wellbeing and also guides them to further needs required in the course of treatment. No patient should suffer from symptoms like pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, breathing difficulty is the ultimate motto of this speciality. The care is given in day care basis as well as to the inpatients and future plans are there to extend our services for doing homecare also along with Ngo support. The scope of care given here will be pain relief by both oral medication-like opioids, NSAIDs and by regional nerve blocks for certain conditions, psychological counselling to patient and primary care givers.
Presently we extend our services to adult palliative services with OP consultations on every Thursday between 9am and 4pm. Day care & in-patient services for symptom management are done on all days. For enquiry kindly contact - +919150026272
